How do i stop my face from being swollen..?

i had a graft done on one of my tooths...basically its wen they take some gum from your palate and cover the root of the tooth because i didnt have enough gum....im really sore so im taking pain medication....but whats bothering me is that my cheek wont go down..they told me ice it 10 min on and 10 min off for two days because after 48 hours it will stop working...then apply heat the next day...doesnt heat inflame?? im scared the swellingwont go down and i need it down for saturday because im going to a club someone plz help me
