My dog has a metal plate in her leg, and its starting to wear the skin out...?

What should i do, her leg is healed but who knows if it would be ok with out the plate, and i think they could probably do a skin graft, i really think taking the leg would be out of the question unless there was some sort of infection, which there is not.
