I recommend going to the library, and searching for any books on grafting or propagation. When you find the area, you see that they are all close to each other on the shelves. Grab a big stack, and flip through some. Once that have lots of photographs and diagrams are usually the most helpful. It's a very visual process, and a book that is all text is going to be harder to understand.

If you have had multiple nose surgeries, can you get your nose pierced?

I really want my nose pierced. However, I am concerned because I have had multiple nose surgeries (as a result of being cleft lip and palate, not elective surgeries). I have a bone graft. I do not know how hard they have to push on your nose - so I worry if they push too hard, it will hurt the graft. I also worry about some of the scar tissue I have in my nose. I worry it might cause bums or something weird. I am not looking for general opinions here. I am looking for professional piercers, those in the medical field, or those who have been in my situation. I just want to know if I should be generally safe to go forward with the piercing or not.

Post Dental Bone Graft Question?

I had a tooth extraction (Tooth #4) this past Thursday and a dental bone graft was put into place. Since then, the area where the stitches and what I am guessing to be membrane (it's a soft white material) has descended. I am in no pain, but am concern is the surgical area material supposed to have descended to the extent that you can't tell there is a tooth missing anymore because the material fills the hole of where the tooth was (it did not look like that the day of surgery). My dentist is unable to be reached and I don't know if this is to be expected.

Homemade NaOH battery?

Every summer i make my own soap for myself for the year, this year i ordered way too much Sodium Hydroxide and German pretzels are getting old. In my garage i found a working 350 watt DC to AC power inverter so i decided to use my extra NaOH as an electrolyte in a homemade battery to use with the inverter to get a couple working outlets if the power ever goes out. I realize this battery is going to have an epic number of cells to power this thing but i'm willing to give it a shot. Long story short i am asking if anyone has experience with something like this (using NaOH as electrolyte) and if so you could save me alot of research and experimentation if you could give me some data, ie which metals to use as anode/cathode or is copper and zinc from the old grade school potato batteries still optimal, what concentration of solution is optimal, what volume of liquid/distance between electrodes, optimal surface area of said electrodes, would i be better off with a series or parallel circuit to connect the cells, things like that. This may be my first time building a legit battery that makes usable amounts of power, but being a science major i am very familiar with the chemistry so no need to dumb down the nomenclature and DEFIANTLY keep the safety lectures on caustic solutions and electrical safety to yourself, I know my way around the stuff.

I had a huge country fried steak with cream gravy, black pepper mashed potatoes, a salad with blue cheese dressing, and lots of chips and spicy salsa. Since he is young, and the teeth that are being extracted will not be missing for an extended period of time, he should have enough bone to hold the implants. You will have to have x-rays done in order to know for sure but it is unlikely.

Planting Gardenia shrub in SWFL?

I'm getting conflicting information on the internet and from nursery employees on whether it is imperative to plant ONLY grafted gardenia plants in SW Florida. I am told by some that only the grafted plants will survive because of some sort of bug that is in the ground and prone to attacking plants that are not grafted. Pulled/ torn hamstring after ACL surgery?

4 days after my ACL Reconstruction (Hamstring Graft) and Meniscal Repair i started walking without crutches. everything was good. I went swimming, doing some freestyle and focusing on my kicking when I felt a weird tear in the back of my thigh of my operated leg. i heard a crack/pop/tear (in the back of my thigh) and my hamstring started hurting. my knee feels great but i know whats left of my hamstring hurts in a certain are. i didn't do damage to the graft did i? I am 13 years old. I'm a couch potato, I just sit down for 24/7 playing on the computer, I only get up to go to the bathroom, eat, and go to sleep. You're sick and you've had surgery. Your husband is being a lazy jerk and needs to realize that. I can't believe he expects you to cook and clean plus take care of your son when you are recovering from surgery. Cut back on the cooking and cleaning and make it easier for yourself. Get some things at the grocery store that require little to no cooking and get some paper plates/cups/spoons/forks. It doesn't have to be unhealthy - you can get sandwich stuff, a veggie tray, fruit, crackers, cheese, peanut butter, nuts, etc. Don't worry so much about the cleaning, your house doesn't have to be spotless. If you're husband has a problem with this tell him to stuff it. He works long hours 4 days a week but that means he's off for three and on his days off he should help with the cleaning. He may have to do more than his share until you recover from your surgery and he'll just have to deal with that. I also strongly suggest that when you feel better you should look for a job to get him off your case about the housework. He feels entitled that you should take care of all that because you stay home, getting a job would get rid of his excuses.

Cut out Carbs for Weight loss?????week 1?

I have a family trip coming up and decided last week was time to kick it into high gear and start my weight loss journey. I cut out ALL Breads,Pasta,Potatoes, and chips. I am eliminating most carbs but still eating apples. I have lost 2 lbs so i am healthly losing. I am excersizing 4-5 times a week doing 40 min on elliptical and some crunches and ab moves. I was wondering if cutting out carbs will be effective in the weeks to come. I was obsessed with potatoes and at 5'3 150 lbs it showed!! I want to ideally be 125 so currently at 148 i am making progress. What do you think about my change.....also i eat eggs for breakfast ALWAYS a salad for lunch with chicken or not and lots of veggies for dinner and some chicken. i try to add almonds or fruit/veg as a snack. For dessert some lite cool whip and strawberries.(1200 calories daily) Is this a good weight loss Strategy???

Mw2 acr silencer vs tar 21 silencer?

Hey guys I've been using both the acr silencer and the tar 21 silencer and I cant figure out which one is better. I lik the acr because of accuracy, range ( even when reduced by silencer), little recoil, and slightly bigger magazines. I like the tar 21 because of increased damage. Am I paying too much for my gum grafts?

I got 3 frenectomies removed within the last 4 months and 1 gum graft was done 5 days ago. I paid $150 for each frenectomy; $1080 for the 1 gum graft procedure and $485 for the tissue my dentist bought from the lab as I refused to have him cut my tissue from my mouth (screw that idea!). I think I was overcharged as a co-worker of mine had 7 grafts done for only $2000 (she did it in the States though, and she used her own tissue for the grafts). Hope that helps.

Dental bone grafted, is it swelling or something permanent? ?

I had dental bone graft surgery done about 3 weeks ago. The bone was placed in the front of my mouth to be able to place 4 implants in the future and to replace my four front teeth. My concern is, after performing the surgery, and after rest and getting the "major" swelling down, my nose seems a but funny, a little pushed up. Changed how I look completely believe it or not.I'm not sure if this is swelling, and will go away after healing completely, or if it's something permanent? It depends how many people will be eating the salad. I would omit the olive oil altogether. If its for you alone I would make about 2 potatoes (idaho) cut into chunks. Boil this on the stove with a little salt. Cook until tender. Drain. Let cool. I would use 2 hard boiled eggs chopped, a couple tablespoon of onions if you have any. 1 cup of mayo with about 1 tsp mustard, mix mayo and mustard well. Pour over your salad and mix well. Sprinkle your salad with paprika to make it pretty. Paprika doesn't taste anything.

For shawerma sauce, i use tahini sauce which i mix some tahini with water , salt, lemon juice and garlic, mix them very well till you get the consistancy of the creamy, more liquidy than the pancake mixture.. Question about PPD/PPI and fair settlement offer?

I live in Oklahoma and had a hamstring graft surgery in addition to a prosthesis to replace my acl after a worker's comp injury. The surgery took place, Oct. 14th and I am now to the point where I was released by my Doctor and we are talking about the settlement with my adjuster. The doctor rated me at 9% PPD and the offer is 17,000. Is that a fair amount, any help would be appreciated because I have no experience with this. Personally I feel it is a little low considering I am only 28 and will likely have problems down the road with the leg but again I have no real way of knowing. I also endured 4 months of grueling PT so is that factored in at all. Thanks in advance for any advice :)

Had A Patellar Tendon Graft Reconstruction of the ACL in my right knee November 2010. is it possible to do the same graph (Patellar Tendon Graft) from the opposite (left) knee to reconstruct my right knee if i had torn it again? implant surgery does not hurt. All you need is local anesthetic. Problem is that if you remov e #7 and #10, even with a bone graft, the bone usually shrinks and an implant connot be paced there. I say it was poor planning by the dentists involved. #7 and #10 implants must be placed at the time of extraction. I think the swelling is due to the surgeon putting th eimplant thru the bone and into the gum. Good chance it will fail.

She is a tiny little thing she always says she is hungry but then she just picks at the food even if it what she asked for. And all she wants is potatoes. The only meat she eats is taco. What is a recipe for chicken and these other ingredients?

I would go with chicken fajitas. Slice the chicken into thin strips & saute in a bit of olive oil over med-high heat until golden & cooked through (you can cook some veggies like peppers and onions with the chicken at this point too). I would add some spices like garlic, chili powder, oregano, etc... as the chicken is cooking as well, and probably the green chilis too! As the chicken is cooking, slightly warm the tortillas. Make the fajitas by placing a scoop of the chicken mixture in the middle of a warmed tortilla, top with cheese (if desired... could also use sour cream, salsa...), and rolling it up. Bon appetit!

I have an average body type and i've decided to do P90X to get in shape over the summer. I eat like a normal teenager, occasional Chickfila here and there, Outback with the family getting me a nice ol' steak and maybe a cookie or two when my sister bakes. I tore out part of my DUSOLVABLE INTERNAL stitches by accident, is this a problem?

I had ACL reconstruction surgery using a hamstring graft 3 weeks ago and for the past week I've been picking at this thing that I thought was a scab that was located on the top of my lower incision. I finally got it out today and this clear string came with it. I later realized it was not scab that I had been picking at but the knot where the surgeonhad tied my stitches, it was on the outside of my leg. I took that out and had 1-3 cm of suture material come out too. then a little tiny bit if blood and a clear fluid. I put a band aid on it. is it worth a call to my surgeon or physical therapist seeing how we are doing physical therapy in a dirty public pool now. is infection going to be a problem? is it going to still heal properly? my surgery was on 3/18/2011. thank you

My Tadpoles are growing and im not sure how to feed them properly?

I have three Tadpoles, two of them still swim in the water and have legs but no arms yet. We are pretty short on food so I need to figure out what I can make out of potatoes and pinto beans (canned) for dinner tonight. I tried looking up stuff but I dont have anything else to add to it and I liked the idea of fried potatoes with beans but how would I do that? Just add the beans when the potatoes are almost done? Or cook them on the side? I need some tips for online multiplayer for Black Ops. I am 3rd Prestige Level 31. My Killstreaks are Spy Plane, Care Package, and Attack Helicopter. My main class is AK74u with Reflex Sight, Python Duel Wield, Semtex, Willy Pete, Scavenger Pro, Sleight of Hand, and Ninja. The other class I use is FAMAS with a silencer, M72 LAW, Semtex, Willy Pete, Scavenger Pro, Sleight of Hand, and Ninja. My K/D Ratio is 0.49, which is terrible. I usually get a handful of kills each match, but a few more deaths than kills. I rarely get any killstreaks at all. I will be willing to change my classes and killstreaks. I usually play Team Deathmatch. I do not have much of a style or strategy. I get an okay amount of kills, so tips for more kills would be nice. I need tips so I don't die as much. I would like to have my Killstreaks as Spy Plane, Attack Helicopter, and Chopper Gunner, and usually get the first two, and sometimes get the Chopper Gunner. First, my diet is definitely in check. I eat 6 frequent meals a day consisting of chicken breast, brown rice, oatmeal, egg whites, sweet potatoes, and tons of veggies. I don't season anything so there is no salt and as less fat *** possible. And my workouts are crazily intense... I don't think they're intense i know it for a fact as i actually know how to lift unlike some who skip around muscle groups orbench everyday. I also do 1 hour of the stairmaster everyday. My ACL is loose after 3 months post op. Is this bad?

I had ACL reconstruction and lateral meniscus removal 11 weeks ago from today. I chose to use the Patella tendon graft. If anyone who had this surgery remembers before it, they done many tests to check for the ACL being torn. One of them was pulling on the shin bone to see if it parts from the thigh. Doing this, you can see your shin bone move kinda deforming your skin, or pushing your skin out. Mine has started to do this again, when I pull on my shin, it departs way more than my other knee. You can tell a big difference. But my knee feels normal and i can run without it giving away. It isn't giving away and i have no pain. I can still straighten it out as well as hyper extend it some, and bend it fully without any pain at all. I'm just worried because that ACL is loose like it was before surgery. Like i said, i can still run, walk without any pain, and bend fully and straighten without any giving out. I'm just worried about the looseness of the ACL. Any suggestions?

I had tooth #19 pulled last Tuesday a bone grafting and an implant put in. I still cannot feel my left lower lip or chin. I am still in a lot of pain. I take a break on the pain pills for 8 hours and then I try to take them again. I am not really getting any break from the pain though. I talked to my dentist twice. The last time was Friday. He said if I felt the same on Monday I should come see him. I am really worried that serious damage has occured and I am not sure I trust this OS. He was really rough on me during the extraction. I have had a lot of dental work in my life but this was really a traumatic experience. I was actually crying and shaking during the extraction. The first injection felt like a bolt of lightening in me. The swelling has gone down slightly. I have prednisone that I take for Crohns disease. I am wondering if I should start a round of it to help in reducing the swelling in hopes to take the pressure off the nerve, or will this hinder the bone graft?

Acl surgery question?

Just had acl surgery with the patellar graft. Im finally sleeping on my sides and what not but I can't walk much less stand up because the bruises are KILLER when I stand up and the blood rushes to my knee... this is 7 days after surgery. Does anyone have any tips on faster recovery.. better ROM and to take bruises down.. plus how to relieve pain after standing up?? Thanks :) btw... I didn't have any meniscus torn so it was just the graft.
